Galvex carbon dioxide 500 mg

The medicine contains calcium, which is important for bone formation and for the proper function of the nervous and muscular systems. It is important for maintaining the physiological function of the heart, kidneys, respiration, blood clotting, hormonal regulation, and the absorption of vitamin B.₁₂ and in the secretion of stomach acid.

The drug is used as a preventive measure to replenish calcium levels:

• during one-sided nutrition, during growth, during pregnancy and breastfeeding,
• during long-term treatment with corticoids,
• in elderly people as prevention of fractures (together with vitamin D).

The drug is also used as part of the treatment of:

• with osteoporosis (thinning of the bones),
• osteomalacia (softening of the bones),
• disorders of calcium metabolism,
• in allergic swellings of the larynx and pharynx,
• in chronic inflammatory diseases,
• for various skin diseases,
• in tetany (increased neuromuscular irritability).
