The medicine contains calcium. Calcium is important for bone building and for the proper function of the nervous and muscular systems. It is important for maintaining the physiological function of the heart, kidneys, respiration, blood clotting, hormonal regulation, vitamin B12 absorption and gastric acid secretion.

It is used as a prevention: to supplement calcium levels in one-sided nutrition, during growth, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in long-term treatment with corticoids, in the elderly as a prevention of fractures (together with vitamin D).

It is also used as part of treatment for osteoporosis (bone thinning), osteomalacia (bone softening), disorders of calcium metabolism, allergic swelling of the larynx and pharynx, chronic inflammatory diseases, various skin diseases, tetany (increased neuromuscular irritability).
