Clotrimazole is an antifungal medicine that acts against many pathogenic fungal micro-organisms, including dermatophytes, yeasts and fungi. It also acts on some types of bacteria.

It is used to treat skin and mucosal infections caused by yeasts, fungi and certain bacteria, such as:

• fungal diseases (dermatomycoses); they occur most often in places that are easily steamed (in the skin folds): between the toes (tinea pedum), in the algae area (tinea inguinalis), on the trunk (tinea corporis), on the hands (tinea manuum). They are manifested by redness, itching, sometimes peeling of the skin, or there may be painful cracks in the skin.
• pityriasis versicolor - usually manifests on the chest or back as peeling, non-itchy spots.
• erythrasma - manifests as brownish-red, slightly scaly, sharply demarcated non-itchy spots to areas in areas that may steam or between the fingers.
• inflammation of the external genitalia in women (vulvitis) - manifested by itching, redness, burning, swelling or pain in the external genitalia
• gingivitis in men (balanitis) - manifested by redness and itching of the acorn and foreskin, or a foul-smelling discharge from the foreskin sac.
