The prostate is a gland that is stored under the bladder. The urethra passes through it, into which the vas deferens open in the prostate, together with the outlets from the seminal vesicles. The prostate acts as a valve here. At the same time, ejaculate passes through it, which contains sperm and fluid formed in the seminal vesicles. This ejaculate has a gelatinous consistency and needs to come into contact with the protein formed in the prostate in order to liquefy. This protein is called prostate specific antigen (PSA). The importance of this protein is great especially in the diagnosis and control of prostate cancer. It reaches different values for young men (in productive age) and different values for older men. Benign hyperplasia, i.e. non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate, occurs mainly in the central zone of the prostate (i.e. in the part immediately surrounding the prostate) and prostate cancer mainly occurs in the peripheral zone. It is necessary to take care of the prostate and its nutrition with the right choice of quality nutritional supplements, which you will also find in our pharmacies.
