Helicide 20

The medicine contains the medicine omeprazole. It belongs to a group of medicines called 'proton pump inhibitors'. They work by reducing the amount of acid that the stomach produces.

It is used in adults to treat short-term symptoms of reflux (eg heartburn and the return of the acidic contents of the stomach to the mouth (regurgitation)).

Reflux is caused by the return of acid from the stomach to the esophagus, which can be inflamed and painful for this reason. This can cause symptoms such as a painful burning sensation in the chest rising to the mouth (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
