The medicine contains calcium, which is important for building bones and for the proper functioning of the nervous and muscular system. It is important for maintaining the physiological function of the heart, kidneys, breathing, blood coagulation, hormonal regulation, vitamin B12 absorption and gastric acid secretion.

The drug is used as a prevention:

• to supplement the level of calcium during unilateral feeding, during growth, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding,
• during long-term treatment with corticoids,
• in elderly people as prevention of fractures (together with vitamin D).

It is also used as part of treatment:

• with osteoporosis (thinning of the bones),
• osteomalacia (softening of the bones),
• disorders of calcium metabolism,
• in allergic swellings of the larynx and pharynx,
• in chronic inflammatory diseases, various skin diseases, tetany (increased neuromuscular irritability).
