Blood cholesterol measurement.
Measurement of total cholesterol in capillary blood from the whole finger, hand or forearm by laypersons and healthcare professionals.
Venous or arterial measurement of total cholesterol by medical personnel only.

TEST FUNCTIONING PRINCIPLE.
The blood sample is sucked into the reaction zone of the strip by capillary action. When the filtered blood reacts with the reagent on the electrodes, the device detects the current and delivers a potential. The current is then converted to an equivalent value of total plasma cholesterol.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF STRIPS.
Total cholesterol esterase: <2,5 units
Total cholesterol oxidase: <2,5 units
Peroxidase: ?1 unit
Other components (buffer solution, mediator, surfactant, stabilizer, etc.): ? 0,02 mg
TEST RESULTS.
Measuring range: 100-400 mg/dl (2,59-10,35 mmol/l)
Normal range for healthy adults: ?200 mg/dl (5,17 mmol/l). (The range is indicative only).
If "Lo" appears on the screen, your total cholesterol level may be below 100 mg/dL (2,59 mmol/L).
If "Hi" appears on the screen, your total cholesterol level may exceed 400 mg/dL (10,35 mmol/L).
If your test result is unusually low, high, or inconsistent with how you feel, review the steps below and repeat the test with a new strip, making sure to follow the instructions carefully.
ACCURACY.
Accuracy of total cholesterol measurements was performed on fingerstick blood and compared to reference instrument calibrators referenced to NIST SRM 913.
