It is registered as a medical device at the Office for the Registration of Medicines, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products.

Note: There are many devices on the market that are confusingly similar to pulse oximeters, but they are not medical devices. These devices are characterized by a lack of diagnostic value when measuring blood saturation (sometimes a random value is given) and a lack of appropriate marking (CE without notified body number).
