The drug is used as an alternative source of zinc supplementation in the treatment of zinc deficiency in cases where it is not possible to ensure a sufficient intake of zinc with a normal diet. Zinc plays an important role in:

• function of the immune system
• skin integrity
• wound healing
• taste and smell
• thyroid function
• growth and development of the body
• testicular maturation
• neurological function and the effect of insulin (a hormone that controls energy processes and glucose (sugar) metabolism).

Zinc is necessary for the proper development of the brain and its functioning, its deficiency or excess is involved in behavioral changes, abnormal development of the central nervous system and the development of neurological diseases.
