Compression compensates for the insufficiency of the calf muscle pump, helps to improve the coordination of the tendon and muscular system of the leg, reduces overfilling of the superficial venous system, accelerates blood flow in the limb and thus transports metabolic waste products accumulated in connective tissue. The use of elastic compression is a causal therapy for the hemodynamic consequences of chronic venous insufficiency.
