VITACALCIN

The medicine contains the mineral calcium. Calcium is an essential substance that ensures the proper function of the nervous, muscular and bone systems. It plays an important role in maintaining proper function of the heart, kidneys, respiration, blood clotting and cell and vascular permeability. It is also important in hormonal regulation, in the absorption of vitamin B₁₂ and in the excretion of gastric juice. The medicine is used as part of:

• treatment of osteoporosis of various origins,
• treatment of osteomalacia (bone softening) due to calcium deficiency,
• treatment of all conditions characterized by decreased calcium saturation (may be caused by decreased calcium intake or absorption, decreased parathyroid function, thyroid cancer and others),
• treatment of all conditions characterized by an increased need for calcium, for example in II. and III. trimesters of pregnancy, lactation, convalescence, fracture healing, growth,
• treatment of patients with chronic renal failure using calcium as a phosphate binder,
• supportive care for allergic conditions.
